At least 20 injured after car  ploughs into crowd in  Munich
Munich firefighters said at least 20 people were injured after a car  ploughed into a crowd of people, with police saying the driver was  arrested at the  scene.

Munich police said  on Thursday afternoon  that there was no public danger after a car  ploughed into a group of people earlier in the day in the capital of  the southern  German state of Bavaria, with  firefighters adding that at least 20 people were injured in the  incident.
The driver was  quickly arrested at the scene, Munich police said, later  identifying him as a 24-year-old Afghan  national.
"The driver of the vehicle was  arrested at the  scene and is not currently  posing any additional risk," police  said.

What else do we know about the Munich car  crash so far? 
BR24 TV said the group  was made up of people  taking part in a  symbolic strike by the  Green union.
It also  cited eyewitnesses  who said two men  were in the car, one of  whom was shot by police and  taken away. Police  appealed to the public  not to  speculate, they said. 
Focus magazine said some of the 20 injured were in critical condition,  while police  said two people were seriously  injured. The city's mayor, Dieter Reiter, said he was "deeply  sorry" for what had happened and that children were among the  injured.
The incident occurred just a day before  senior politicians from  around the world  were to gather in the city for the  prestigious Munich Security Conference, which  will be held about a  kilometer from the crash  site.
