Gokada, a   Lagos-based  bicycle  transportation  company,  is   turning  its   attention  to logistics.
This   comes  after the Lagos   State  government   led  by  Babajide Sanwo-Olu banned the use of motorcycles and tricycles in 16 local   government  development  areas  and local   councils.

Reacting  to a report   that  most of its   workforce  had  been  laid  off,  Gokada  CEO  Fahim   Saleh  tweeted:  "We still have money in the bank and are   focusing  on  deliveries while this   transportation  ban   is  cleared."

According to Saleh, the company was   expected  to make   profits  in January when the ban was announced.

Lagos  State  Commissioner  for  Information  and  Strategy  Gbenga   Omotoso  said the ban was decided after a review of   the  victims.  In May 2019, Gokada announced that it   had  received  $5.3  million investment through a fundraising process.

At the time, it said it would   use  the investment to   expand  its   rider  fleet,   increase  daily rides by 10  and   recruit  local talent.

Since its launch in 2018, Gokada   says  it has   purchased  about  1,000 motorcycles and completed one million rides.
