A Mobile Traffic Unit officer conducted a traffic stop on  Route 1. Following an ongoing investigation, the two  individuals traveling in the vehicle were  arrested for drug trafficking  investigations.
During a search of the vehicle, officers  found eight kilograms of fentanyl hidden under the spare tire. A photo of the fentanyl is  attached. The occupants  of the vehicle were  arrested.
SHP, Swift Current RCMP and  the Saskatchewan  RCMP Traffic Response Team provided valuable assistance  to the RTU during the traffic stop and subsequent  investigation.
As a result of  this ongoing investigation, Swati  Narula, 26, and Kunwardeep Singh,  28, both  of Calgary,  were charged with trafficking,  section 5(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and  other charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking,  subsection 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. They appeared in Swift Current Provincial Court on January 29,  2025.

The accused told investigators that  he was heading to  Regina. "This is a significant  seizure of fentanyl." It's important to remember that  just a few grains of fentanyl  are enough to cause a  potentially fatal overdose.  "We have prevented millions of doses of this dangerous drug from entering our communities,"  said Superintendent Grant St. Germaine, Officer in Charge of  Traffic Services for the Saskatchewan  RCMP. "I hope this message  goes out to others who choose to transport  illegal goods  into our province.  "Our officers are watching you."
Here are  some highlights of recent RTU work:
January 23, 2025: RTU officers stopped a vehicle on Highway  16 near Lloydminster.  An RTU police dog alerted  officers to the  odor of narcotics in the vehicle. Further investigation led officers to seize  nearly $400,000 from the vehicle. The driver is charged with possession of proceeds of crime  worth more than $5,000. The investigation  is ongoing. January 22, 2025: RTU officers stopped a vehicle on Highway  13 near Ponteix. It was determined  that the vehicle was commercial and the driver was unable to  produce a bill of  lading as required by law.  Following an ongoing investigation, officers located and seized approximately nine kilograms of  illegal cannabis and a  significant amount of cash from the vehicle. The driver was charged with possession of  proceeds of crime over $5,000 and  unlawful possession of cannabis for the purpose of trafficking, which is a charge under the  cannabis law. The investigation  is ongoing. January 9, 2025: RTU officers stopped a vehicle on Highway  1 near Swift Current. Further investigation led  officers to  locate and  seize approximately 700 kilograms of  illegal cannabis and a  quantity of cash  from the vehicle.  More details are available  here.
November 19, 2024: RTU officers conducted a traffic stop on Highway  16 near Maidstone.  An RTU police dog alerted  officers to the  odor of  drugs in the vehicle. Further investigation  allowed officers to  locate and  seize approximately 50 kilograms of cocaine and a sum of  money in the vehicle.  More details are available  here.
"Based on investigation and intelligence, we know  that illegal drugs are being transported across provincial borders into  Saskatchewan," said Superintendent St.  Germaine. "That's why we have dedicated Saskatchewan RCMP officers  working alongside partner  agencies, making it their mission to disrupt the flow of illegal activity.  "Our communities are safer because of their  actions."
