NDLEA apprehends people headed to the UK and finds firearms, cannabis, skuchies,

Officers of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, have  seized a consignment of Loud, a synthetic strain of cannabis, concealed in  a blanket, packed for export to the United Kingdom  via the cargo  hold of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja  Lagos.
Two suspects: Adakole Sunday and Austin Balogun linked to the  attempted export  of the consignment to the  United Kingdom were arrested  shortly after NDLEA  operatives discovered six packages of the psychoactive substance  on Tuesday, January 21, 2025. A gross weight of 3.50 kilograms  was concealed inside the  blanket.
In his statement, Austin  Balogun, who is the  lead agent who hired Adakole,  said he was paid N700,000  for transporting the cargo to the UK but spent  part of the money  to handle export  duties and  most of it to pay for an  apartment.
At least two suspects: Joseph Oluwasegun Adewale and Biodun Adelakun were arrested  in Igbo Olumo, Ikorodu area of  Lagos, when NDLEA operatives raided their hideout in the community where seven litres of skuchies, a new psychoactive substance produced  from blackcurrant, cannabis and  opioids were  found. Other  items seized from the  pair include: three locally  manufactured double-barreled shotguns; one locally  manufactured double-barreled pistol; one  English-made pistol; one locally  manufactured single-barreled shotgun; three cartridges and one  spent 9mm cartridge as well as an  iron-headed axe.
Another raid in Lagos on  Sunday, January  19, led to the seizure of 47kg  of skunk, a  variety of cannabis, and 25.46kg  of nitrous oxide, commonly known as laughing  gas, in the notorious Akala area of  Mushin.
In Ekiti, a 26-year-old  suspect, Adepoju  Taiwo, was arrested by NDLEA officers on  Thursday, January  23, with  1,950kg of Canadian  hashish on Iworoko  Road, Ilokun, Ado-Ekiti, the state capital, while Auwal Sani was  arrested by operatives on  Monday, January  20, at Bode Saadu in Moro  Local Government Area of  ��Kwara State. A total of 50,000  225mg tramadol  tablets weighing 36.56kg were  found on him. A Nigerian, Abubakar Lami, 45,  and two  others, Abba Sani, 35, and Auwal Aliyu, 32, were arrested by NDLEA operatives  in Gadar Tamburawa, Kano, while 13.1kg  of skunk and 125 litres of  "suck and  die", the new psychoactive  substance, were  seized. In Gefen Kasa, Dawakin Kudu  Council Area of  Kano State, a cannabis plantation was  discovered and destroyed by a team of NDLEA officers who arrested a suspect, Sabo Ali Muhammad, 45, linked to the  farm. Meanwhile, across the country, NDLEA  commands continued their  fight against drug abuse, WADA, sensitization lectures and advocacy visits to  places of worship, schools, workplaces,  traditional rulers' palaces and communities  over the past week.  Examples include: WADA sensitization  conference for students and staff of  Children's Army Secondary School, Oyo, Oyo  State; Government Day Secondary School, Gwadangwaji, Kebbi  State; Government Day Secondary School, Suleja, Niger  State; St.  John Dominic Comprehensive College, Oron, Akwa Ibom  State; District Junior College, Agege, Lagos; and residents of Pompomari community, Damaturu, Yobe  State, among  others.
While commending officers and men of  the MMIA, Lagos, Kano,  Kwara and Ekiti Commands of the Agency for the arrests and seizures  made last week, the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of NDLEA,  Brigadier General. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd) also  commended his compatriots in all commands across the country for the  intensification of AMA social  support conferences and  awareness-raising activities in every part of their areas of responsibility.
