No fewer than 19 suspects have been  arrested by operatives of the Ondo State Police Command  following violent cult clashes that rocked Owo,  the headquarters of the Owo  State Local  Government Council.
According to the  Special Commissioner of Police in the state, Wilfred Afolabi, those  convicted
will face the wrath of the  law.
Disclosing this to  newsmen during an  on-site assessment of the clashes in the  old town, the police commissioner  said all the suspects were arrested in connection with Monday's  sectarian clash. Five people were killed in the cult  war on Monday, after Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa declared a dusk-to-dawn curfew in the  community.
Afolabi stressed that the  on-site assessment was necessary to monitor compliance with the curfew imposed on the town by the state  government. The commissioner noted that his men restored peace in the  city, saying that all the affected areas visited by his team were now  calm.
He assured the public that other suspects involved in the  fight would be  arrested.
He said: "We are in Owo this morning to monitor the level of compliance with the curfew imposed  in the  city by the state government. So far, normalcy has  returned and calm and peace  reign throughout the  city.
"We currently have 19 suspects in  custody and our  data confirms four  deaths." For peace-loving citizens, we  provide them  with an enabling environment.
"However, for those who hate peace,  life with us will not  be easy. Wherever they go, we will  hunt them  down and the law will catch up with them."
The areas visited by the Ondo Police Commissioner  include Ehin Ogbe, Ijebu Owo, the  Palace area among  others.
