Two found dead in JetBlue  plane's landing  gear JetBlue says incident  'heartbreaking'
The bodies of two people  have been found in  the landing gear of a JetBlue plane at Fort Lauderdale airport in Florida, the  airline said.
The two were found  dead during a routine inspection Monday night after the plane landed, JetBlue  said.
"The circumstances surrounding how they  gained access to the aircraft remain under  investigation," the  airline said in a  statement.
"This is a heartbreaking  situation and we are committed to working closely with authorities to support their efforts to understand how this  happened."
The Airbus  plane took off from New  York's John F Kennedy International  Airport at  around 8 p.m. local time (01:00 GMT) on Monday and  landed around 11 p.m.
Local police are investigating how the two people  managed to board the plane, while  the medical examiner's office is  conducting autopsies to determine their causes of death, according to  CBS News, the BBC's  American partner. The incident comes just two weeks after a body was found in the landing gear compartment of a United Airlines  plane that landed in Hawaii on Christmas Eve.  Authorities have not  said how the person got into the landing gear compartment or what the cause of death  was.
The landing gear compartment of  an airplane is a dangerous place, exposing  passengers to extremely cold temperatures and a lack of oxygen.  People in the compartment can also be crushed by  the landing gear  as it is  pulled into the  plane.
