Fire Breaks Out at NYC's Bryant Park Holiday Market This morning, a huge fire erupted at the famous holiday market in Bryant Park, causing black smoke plumes to rise above Manhattan. Around 9:20 a.m., a vendor's booth on West 40th Street between Fifth and Sixth Avenues was the scene of the fire. There were no early reports of casualties or the source of the fire as firefighters attempted to contain it. Days prior, a fire in Herald Square destroyed eighteen stores, raising questions about safety in the city's festive markets.
