A man from British Columbia has been sentenced for his convictions of aggravated assault and arson related to the murder of an Alberta lady. Philip Toner received an eight-year sentence.

Promotion Toner, 44, was first accused of second-degree murder in relation to the death of 35-year-old Brenda Ware. He entered a guilty plea in August to lesser charges of arson and aggravated assault. Later that month, her body was discovered close to her car on Highway 93 in Kootenay National Park, some 50 kilometres east of Radium, British Columbia.
