Police are looking into a crash in the northeast that caused serious injuries.
A incident in the northeast of the city resulted in significant injuries, and our traffic section is looking into it.

Police received a call about a collision at the intersection of Cornerstone Avenue N.E. and Cornerstone Street N.E. on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at around 1:40 p.m.

A woman in her 30s is thought to have been driving a car south on Cornerstone Street N.E. as it approached the intersection with a little child in tow. When the sedan came to a stop at the stop sign, it entered the intersection and went into the path of an eastbound SUV that was being driven by a man in his 50s who had the right-of-way.

The SUV collided with the sedan and landed on the front end lawn of a house nearby. The vehicle turned around and stopped in the northbound direction at the intersection.

The woman was taken in critical condition to the hospital. The young traveller was unharmed. The man received on-scene care for minor wounds.

It is not thought that speed, drugs, or alcohol played a role in this crash.

As part of our ongoing investigation, our Traffic Section is requesting that anyone with information or dashcam footage about this incident call the police at 403-266-1234. Additionally, Crime Stoppers accepts anonymous tips via the following channels:
