RCCG Requests Proof Regarding Allegations of Homosexuality Against Its Two Pastors

Nigerians are urged by the RCCG Church to provide proof of the accusations of homosexuality against its two pastors.


As part of its inquiry into claims of homosexuality against two of its church leaders, the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has issued an invitation to the public to provide proof.

According to the church, a reporting channel has been set up so that members and the general public can provide evidence for the current investigation. Emails can be sent to rccgadm@gmail.com or 09039000700, among other routes.

Pastor Ayorinde AdeBello and Deacon Oke Mayowa were suspended from their roles after claims of homosexual misconduct involving young church members were made public by SaharaReporters on Tuesday.

In a memo dated October 28, 2024, which SaharaReporters was able to get, RCCG National Overseer Pastor Sunday Akande confirmed the suspension, saying that AdeBello and For the time being, Mayowa had been released from their ecclesiastical duties.

Additionally, it was stated that the church has given the General Overseer on Administration's Special Assistant two weeks to look into the claims in detail.

SaharaReporters said late Tuesday night that AdeBello had released a statement refuting claims of homosexuality.

He clarified that his initial silence was misconstrued as an admission of guilt until he broke it on Instagram. In an effort to clear his name and repair his reputation, he vehemently disputed the accusations.

Nonetheless, the church is urging anyone who knows anything about the alleged heinous conduct to come forward.

In a statement titled "RCCG Addresses Allegations Against Youth Ministers," which was issued by Pastor Sunday Akande, the National Overseer of the RCCG, the church declared, "We encourage anyone with sufficient information to that might help us advance our study.

However, he pointed out that other submissions will not be scrutinized; only verified information directly relevant to "this case will be considered."

"All supporting documentation should be sent to the Special Assistant to the General Overseer [Administration] at 09039000700 or rccgadm@gmail.com. Your assistance will guarantee a comprehensive settlement and strengthen our dedication to justice," he stated.

Akande declared that the young ministers had been placed on indefinite suspension and removed from all ministerial duties until all of the complaints were completely addressed, while insisting that the church is carrying out a thorough inquiry into these claims.

"Until we can thoroughly address these allegations, the Youth Ministers have been placed on indefinite suspension and removed from all ministerial duties as a precaution,"He went on.

He reaffirmed that the foundation of RCCG was based on holiness, a dedication that is evident in all of its doctrines and activities.

"We are committed to openness and will not put up with any behaviour that goes against our basic principles or conceals wrongdoing.

"We value any help in this matter and request that individuals or organizations with concrete proof supply the relevant information," the statement read.
