Five people are being charged in a Peel Regional Police investigation into gun and drug trade, including a 61-year-old Brampton mother and her two sons.

According to investigators, Project Sledgehammer started with a traffic check during which a 20-year-old male was arrested for firearm crimes.

He was given an ankle bracelet and released.

According to Peel Regional Police Det. Sgt. Chris Fiori, the investigation became more thorough on Monday after detectives discovered evidence linking numerous of the original suspect's associates to drug and firearm trafficking.

Officers carried out search warrants at three homes in Brampton, one in Waterloo, and one at a Caledon storage facility in September 2024.

Officers allegedly found over 900 rounds of ammunition and 11 weapons during the searches, along with  illicit substances, such as cocaine and opium, valued at $20,000.

Five individuals were taken into custody and are currently facing more than 150 counts.

They are Ranveer Araich, 20, Pavneet Nahal, 21, and Narinder Nagra, 50, of Brampton, along with her two sons, Navdeep Nagra, 20, and Ravneet Nagara, 22.Not a valid attachment ID.
