There is solid proof of voting fraud in British Columbia, the RCMP assured the media.

The Canadian Press stated that Surrey's RCMP had discovered 67 bogus applications to vote via mail.

WeChat was used to spread suspicious messages purporting to provide cash in return for votes. The Chinese messaging service WeChat has its main office in Shenzhen, China.

According to the Canadian Press, the RCMP also discovered proof that a poll worker attempted to sway a voter.

Even though these claims date back to 2018, they raise questions about whether similar attempts to cheat might have taken place during the most recent provincial election.

There were other cases of police looking into and/or prosecuting individuals for voter fraud in the province.

According to local media, two residents of British Columbia were charged in 2018 under the Canada Elections Act for allegedly attempting to cast two ballots in the 2015 federal election.

More recently, in 2020, local media reported that Garry Thind, the BC Liberal candidate for Surrey-Fleetwood, was charged with electoral fraud for allegedly organizing a campaign to solicit mail-in ballots for voters.

In a widely shared video, political analyst David Simieritsch conjectured that there might be problems with the mail-in ballots in the most recent provincial election, pointing out that workers were permitted to take their ballots home.

Recounts are presently taking place in two ridings, with the NDP currently holding a slim lead over the BC Conservatives.

There is currently no proof of writing that, in spite of widespread internet conjecture, voter fraud took place in the most recent provincial election.

Despite the fact that some election workers were allowed to take votes home, the RCMP and Elections BC maintain that the voting process is safe and secure.
