The victim of last week's deadly shooting in northeast Calgary has been named by police, and the death has been formally declared a homicide.

Just before 7:30 p.m. on October 18, emergency personnel were dispatched to a residence near 84 Street NE and Homestead Boulevard NE in response to reports of a man being shot.


Officers discovered a wounded individual who had been declared deceased at the site.

Following an autopsy on Tuesday, the victim was determined to be 28-year-old John Noon Ochelo. This is the 15th murder in the city of the year.


There is still no word on any suspects.
