To lessen the possible impact of the attack, all physical library locations will be closed on Friday starting at 5 p.m. Mountain Time.

According to the library's website, branches will be closed indefinitely.

In addition, access to the library's computers and all servers will be disabled.

The library stated in the statement, "Data security is a key priority for the library and our security team is working diligently to determine the scope of the breach."

The library promised to offer updated on the circumstances as new details come to light.

Wordfest tweeted this on Friday night:

"Wordfest has been informed that our Founding Partner, Calgary Public Library, is experiencing an interruption that may impact our presentations at the Imaginairium Festival, October 15-21," it read.

All festival attendees are kindly requested to monitor their email inboxes for any information regarding any impacted shows. Additionally, updates will be published on wordfest.com
