Hezbollah confirms leader Hassan Nasrallah's passing following Israeli attacks on Beirut

In brief
Following Israeli raids on Beirut, Hezbollah has reported the passing of its leader, Hassan Nasrallah.

Fearing an assassination by Israel, Nasrallah had avoided public life for years. Nonetheless, he remained one of the most prominent and well-known individuals in the Middle East.

A BBC correspondent saw dense smoke billowing over many areas in Dahieh on Saturday morning as air attacks continued in southern Beirut.

In another instance, the Israeli military claims that it has detected a rocket fired from Lebanon and is "attacking" locations in the Bekaa Valley.

Six persons were killed and ninety-one injured were reported by Lebanese officials on Friday during an airstrike. Local officials reported that Israeli bombings in Lebanon since Monday have claimed the lives of about eight hundred people.

"A very dangerous and delicate moment for Lebanon," reads the media caption.
