When walking or biking to school, it's essential to do so with a friend or in a group. This not only makes the journey more enjoyable but also provides an added layer of safety. Additionally, minimizing distractions while en route is crucial. Refrain from using your phone or listening to music, as these can divert your attention away from potential hazards.

Staying aware of your surroundings is vital, especially when navigating through busy streets or intersections. Be mindful of your environment and keep an eye out for any potential dangers, such as speeding vehicles or uneven pavement. Furthermore, it's crucial to use crosswalks and designated pedestrian paths instead of taking shortcuts, which can put you at risk of being struck by a vehicle.

When crossing the street, make eye contact with drivers before proceeding. This simple action can help ensure that drivers are aware of your presence and can take necessary precautions to avoid accidents. It's also essential to adhere to bus safety guidelines, such as waiting at designated bus stops, following the instructions of bus drivers, and keeping your belongings secure while on board.

By following these straightforward tips, we can all play a role in maintaining a safe and secure environment for our students. The EPS School Resource Officers are committed to providing support and guidance throughout the year, and we wish everyone a safe and successful academic year. Remember, safety is a collective responsibility, and by working together, we can ensure that our students arrive at school and return home safely every day.
