Justin Trudeau, the former Prime Minister, stated that the government's goal of planting two billion trees was unrealistic. According to Natural Resources Canada, only 228 million trees have been planted, which falls significantly short of the two-billion-tree commitment and represents less than half of the annual planting done by forestry companies.
