As we celebrate another year of life, we pay tribute to the incredible journey of the Dancehall King of Nigeria, Timaya. Born Inetimi Alfred Odon on August 15, 1980, in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Timaya has risen to become a household name in the Nigerian music industry.

From his humble beginnings as the youngest of 15 children to his rise to fame with his unique blend of dancehall, reggae, and traditional African music, Timaya has consistently pushed the boundaries of creativity and excellence. His impressive music career, which began with his backup vocals for Eedris Abdulkareem's hip-hop group, has seen him release numerous chart-topping albums, including "True Story", "Gift and Grace", "De Rebirth", and "Gladiator".

Throughout his illustrious career, Timaya has been recognized with numerous awards and nominations, including four Headies Awards, two AFRIMMA Awards, one Nigeria Music Award, one NEA Award, and a Grammy Nomination for Best Reggae Album in 2018. His contributions to the music industry have also inspired a new generation of artists, with his record label, DM Records Limited, playing a significant role in launching the careers of talents like Patoranking and Runtown.

As we celebrate Timaya's 45th birthday, we also acknowledge his philanthropic efforts, particularly in his Niger-Delta community, where he has made a positive impact as a Peace Ambassador appointed by the Inter-Religious and International Federation for World Peace (IIFWP) in 2011.
