A public health warning has been issued in Canada after a cluster of salmonella cases was linked to specific pistachio products, including the popular Dubai-style pistachio and knafeh chocolate bar. As of now, 52 confirmed cases have been reported across four provinces, resulting in nine hospitalizations.

The affected products have been recalled and identified as:

 Dubai Pistachio & Knafeh Milk Chocolate (145 g, UPC 6 11834 51237 1)
Habibi brand pistachios (10 kg bulk packs, best-before January 2027)
Al Mokhtar Food Centre pistachios (450 g, sold in Ottawa)

These products were distributed in Ontario and Quebec, and some were available online or incorporated into baked goods. The recall is a precautionary measure to protect public health and prevent further illnesses.

What You Can Do to Stay Safe:

Do not consume any of the recalled products. Instead, safely dispose of them or return them to the store where you purchased them.
If you have already consumed one of these products and are experiencing symptoms such as fever, diarrhea, abdominal cramps, or vomiting, seek medical attention immediately, especially if you are a young child, senior, pregnant, or have a weakened immune system.

It is essential to take this recall seriously and take prompt action to avoid any potential health risks associated with salmonella contamination. For more information on food safety and recalls, visit the Canadian Food Inspection Agency's website.
