The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has confirmed that the individual sought in connection with the ongoing investigation into a death and arson case in Bracebridge has been found deceased.

On August 1, 2025, at approximately 8:00 p.m., police responded to reports of gunfire at a residence on Beatrice Town Line Road in Bracebridge. Upon arrival, officers discovered a 60-year-old man deceased, along with a house fully engulfed in flames. The victim had sustained a gunshot wound.

A comprehensive search for a suspect was immediately launched, supported by specialized OPP units. As a precautionary measure, a shelter-in-place order was issued and later lifted by 1:45 a.m. on August 2.

Subsequent investigations revealed two additional deceased individuals within the home. A postmortem examination identified one of them as a 29-year-old male from Bracebridge, who was previously wanted for murder. His cause of death was determined to be smoke inhalation. The second deceased person, a 59-year-old female also from Bracebridge, died from a gunshot wound.

The investigation is ongoing under the supervision of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, in partnership with the Office of the Chief Coroner, Ontario Forensic Pathology Service, and the Office of the Fire Marshal.
