Strengthening Ties: PM Rabuka Receives Courtesy Call from Ghanaian High Commissioner

In a significant diplomatic engagement, Prime Minister Honourable Sitiveni Rabuka received a courtesy call from the Non-Resident High Commissioner of the Republic of Ghana to Fiji, His Excellency Samuel Yao Kumah, on Tuesday, 5th August 2025. The meeting underscored the mutual desire to bolster bilateral cooperation and exchanges between the two nations.

Prime Minister Rabuka emphasized the importance of exchanging ideas and practices with Ghana to enhance Fiji's tourism products and brands. He noted that Ghana's unique crops and wildlife could be adapted to add diversity to Fiji's tourism industry, enabling the country to stay competitive in the regional market.

"Fiji will continue to face increasing competition from similar tourism brands and destinations in our region. Exchanging ideas and practices with distant nations like Ghana will help build the robustness of Fiji's tourism products and brands," Prime Minister Rabuka stated.

The Prime Minister expressed his eagerness to explore potential areas of bilateral cooperation through the Missions in Canberra, fostering a stronger partnership between the two nations.

Reflecting on their shared memberships in the United Nations, the Commonwealth, and the African Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) group of States, Prime Minister Rabuka reiterated the common priorities and shared interests between Fiji and Ghana. He emphasized their mutual commitment to advocating for more ambitious global climate actions and their dedication to multilateralism as an effective tool for addressing global challenges.

High Commissioner Kumah expressed his gratitude to the Prime Minister for the opportunity to discuss potential areas of cooperation. He reiterated Ghana's commitment to working with Fiji to advance their shared priorities and interests.

This courtesy call marks a significant step forward in strengthening the ties between Fiji and Ghana, paving the way for increased collaboration and mutual benefit.
