On Thursday morning, Her Honour the Lieutenant Governor attended a change of command ceremony at the 5th Canadian Division Support Base Garrison St. John's, marking an important transition for the esteemed military institution. During the ceremony, Her Honour delivered a heartfelt address, acknowledging the outstanding service of outgoing Commanding Officer Major Chris Kane. She expressed sincere gratitude for Major Kane's tireless efforts, which have greatly benefited not only the local community but also the nation as a whole.

Her Honour commended Major Kane's dedication to fostering strong partnerships, including his close collaboration with Government House. She wished him all the best in his future pursuits, recognizing the valuable contributions he will undoubtedly make in the years to come.

The Lieutenant Governor also extended a warm welcome to Major Rich Laydon, who has assumed the role of new Commanding Officer of 5 CDSB Garrison St. John's.
