For years, the residents of Rokovuaka Village in Nalawa, Ra faced the ongoing threat of cyclones and flooding, which compromised their safety and disrupted their lives.

Lacking a dedicated evacuation center, families often sought refuge in the village church or chose to stay in their homes, putting themselves at great risk due to the lack of safer options. However, this situation transformed yesterday, July 29, 2025, with the official opening of a multipurpose evacuation center, presented by Hon. Sakiasi Ditoka, Minister for Rural and Maritime Development and Disaster Management. This newly constructed, secure facility will provide a safe haven for villagers during emergencies.
