"It is a curious sight to behold two Nigerian presidents, past and present, converging in the UK, not to explore investment opportunities or strengthen diplomatic ties, but to receive medical attention. This spectacle is a stark reminder of the nation's healthcare system, which is woefully inadequate to cater to the medical needs of its leaders, let alone its citizens.

The irony is not lost on us when we consider the astronomical sums of money that have been expended on medical trips by our leaders since 2015. A staggering amount that could have been channeled towards establishing five world-class industries in Nigeria, thereby creating job opportunities, driving growth, and improving the overall standard of living.

It is a bitter truth that our leaders, who have the means to travel abroad for medical care, often turn a blind eye to the plight of their constituents, who are forced to rely on an underfunded and understaffed healthcare system. One cannot help but wonder if those who support such leaders have the financial wherewithal to seek medical attention abroad when they fall ill.

As a nation, we must acknowledge the need for a paradigm shift in our priorities. It is time to redirect our resources towards building a robust and self-sufficient healthcare system that can cater to the needs of all Nigerians, regardless of their social status or position. Only then can we begin to build a truly equitable society where everyone has access to quality healthcare, regardless of their ability to pay."
