The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has urged students nationwide to refrain from the harmful use of the internet, emphasizing that such actions can be both detrimental and illegal.

This appeal was made during an interactive session held in Lagos on Friday, June 20, 2025, with students from the Department of International Relations at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State, who were visiting the EFCC's Lagos Zonal Directorate 1 for an educational experience. During the session, Zonal Director CE Michael Nzekwe encouraged the students to explore innovative ideas that could highlight their talents and crafts. Speaking through the Head of the Public Affairs Directorate in Lagos, Deputy Commander of the EFCC DCE Ayo Oyewole emphasized, "As young people, you need to look within yourselves and leverage your creative potential to develop ideas, perspectives, and initiatives that can contribute to economic growth." He also called on the students to assist the EFCC in its fight against corruption by rejecting all forms of internet fraud and unethical behavior. Dr. Ibukun David, the lecturer who led the students on this field trip, expressed his appreciation for the warm welcome and the engaging discussion. He assured the Zonal Director that the students would communicate their insights about the EFCC's initiatives to the public whenever possible.
