Libraries serve as the gathering places for local communities, uniting individuals, providing access to resources, preserving local history, and fostering friendships. The Governor-General made a visit to the Bairnsdale Library, where she learned from Manager Naomi Barr and Mayor White about the essential contributions libraries make throughout East Gippsland. From book clubs to the Friends of Libraries and collaborations with Lions Clubs to enhance literacy, the Governor-General relished the opportunity to meet and converse with community members.
