A waxwork of French President Emmanuel Macron has been stolen from the Grevin Museum in Paris by environmental activists from Greenpeace.

The activists, who were dressed as museum employees, managed to remove the figure and transport it to the Russian embassy where they displayed it with signs and placards to protest France's ongoing trade with Russian companies, particularly in gas and fertilizer, despite the country's support for Ukraine following the Kremlin's invasion. The statue is reportedly worth €40,000 and has not been recovered yet. No arrests have been made in connection with the incident. Greenpeace accused France of hypocrisy, claiming that it supports Ukraine while still conducting significant business with Russia. Since the start of the conflict, Russia has earned over €883bn from fossil fuel exports to the West, with France contributing €17.9bn to that total. The French government has provided military aid to Ukraine and imposed sanctions on Russia, but environmental activists argue that more should be done to cut financial ties that benefit Moscow.
