The Premier of Alberta has written a letter to various chiefs, which is circulating on social media, in which Danielle Smith seeks their support for Alberta's sovereignty.

In the letter dated May 13, Smith stated, "I want to reiterate that as premier, I will persist in my efforts to safeguard both the constitutional sovereignty of Alberta and the rights of First Nations in Alberta."

Additionally, Smith expressed her commitment to the chiefs in the letter, stating that she is "dedicated to protecting, upholding, and honoring the rights of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit peoples."
