Drug Trafficking Investigation Leads to the Seizure of Drugs, Firearms, and Cash

A 25-year-old male is facing 15 charges related to drug trafficking and firearm possession following an investigation conducted by the Regina Police Service Drug Unit (RDU).

On May 20, 2025, two CDSA search warrants were executed. The first warrant was executed at a business located in the 100 block of Dewdney Avenue. Members of the RDU, along with the SWAT team, carried out the search, resulting in the following items being discovered:

• 2 kilograms of methamphetamine
• 2 ounces of cocaine
• 1 ounce of pink cocaine (suspected to be a mixture of cocaine, MDMA, and ketamine)
• $53,670.00 in Canadian currency
• 2 .40 caliber handguns and ammunition 
• 1 rifle and ammunition
• 1 shotgun and ammunition
• Various other weapons and drug packaging materials
• Mobile phones

Later that same day (May 20, 2025), the RDU and the SWAT Unit executed a second CDSA search warrant as part of this investigation. The search of a residence in the 2000 block of Wallace Street yielded the following items:

• Approximately 2 kilograms of methamphetamine
• Approximately 0.5 kilograms of fentanyl
• 6 ounces of cocaine
• ¼ ounce of pink cocaine
• A loaded, prohibited 9mm handgun and ammunition
• Drug packaging materials, scales, mobile phones, and other indicators of drug trafficking

Twenty-five-year-old Mikhael FERNANDEZ was arrested and is charged with:

• 3 counts of Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking [CDSA 5(2)];
• Possession of the Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime exceeding $5,000 [CC 355];
• 3 counts of Careless Storage of a Firearm [CC 86(2)];
• 5 counts of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm [CC 92(1)];
• Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition [CC 95(1)(A)]; and
• 2 counts of Possession of a Loaded or Restricted Firearm [CC 95(1)].

FERNANDEZ made his initial court appearance regarding these charges in Regina Provincial Court on May 22, 2025, at 2:00 p.m.
