The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Nigeria has reportedly busted an international drυg syndicate at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Ikeja, Lagos. Two British nationals, Mhizha Jordan Alexander Tatendra and Ayedipe Andrew Adejuwon, along with two Nigerians, Shonowo Oluwaseun Imole and Ofuoma Omokaro Ayobami, were apprehended in connection with the attempted smuggling of a large quantity of a strong strain of c@nnabis known as Lo∆d. The total weight of the confiscated substance is said to be 51.10 kilograms.

The incident occurred when Alexander, who was carrying the consignment, arrived at the airport on a Qatar Airline flight from Doha. He managed to pass through security checks but was intercepted by NDLEA operatives who had been tipped off by intel. As he exited the airport, he was met by Adejuwon, Imole, and Ayobami in an SUV. The trio intended to receive the drυg delivery, but their plan was thwarted by the waiting NDLEA team who promptly made the arrests.

According to the suspects' statements, Alexander was recruited for the operation during his vacation and was promised 1,300 British Pounds upon successful delivery of the drυg. Adejuwon admitted to arriving in Nigeria from South Africa via Ghana the day before the planned delivery.

Following their arrest, a raid on Adejuwon's Lekki apartment yielded additional evidence, including N3,810,500 in cash, an Apple laptop, an iPhone 14 Pro Max, and four laughing gas canisters (Nitro Oxide). The NDLEA is likely to continue its investigation to dismantle the entire network of the syndicate and bring all involved parties to justice.
