This information was shared by NDLEA spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, in a statement on Sunday. Babafemi explained that Obehi, attempting to evade security measures by wearing a hijab, was apprehended in the departure hall on Sunday, May 3, 2025, as she was preparing to board a Qatar Airline flight to Iran with a layover in Doha, following credible intelligence. Upon searching Obehi, officials discovered she had concealed three wraps of cocaine internally, along with two sizable packages hidden in the false compartments of her handbag. In addition, she had ingested 67 pellets of the illicit substance.

As a result, she was placed under observation for excretion, during which she expelled all 67 pellets over four days. Babafemi stated that Obehi claimed her intention was to swallow 70 pellets, but after consuming 67, she was unable to take in the last three, leading her to hide them internally. The total weight of the cocaine concealed in her body amounts to 2.523 kilograms, according to the NDLEA. In a related incident, the NDLEA revealed that its operatives at Murtala Mohammed International Airport in Ikeja, Lagos, intercepted a 22-year-old British citizen, Campbell Kaizra Kofi Johannes Slifer, on May 9, 2025. He was arriving from Thailand via Doha on a Qatar Airways flight, carrying two suitcases containing 35 parcels of Loud, a potent strain of cannabis, weighing 37.60 kg. Reporting by coretvnews
