Alberta wildfire updates for May 12, 2025 indicate that emergency crews are preparing to allow residents to return to their homes after a wildfire north of Edmonton.

The blaze, which began earlier in the month due to an all-terrain vehicle fire caused by an electrical or mechanical failure, has affected more than 32 square kilometers and led to evacuations in Sturgeon County. Officials are reminding the public to stay out of the evacuation area until it is deemed safe for residents to return.

Firefighters are making progress on containing the fire's perimeter, with higher humidity levels helping to keep the fire behavior low. Additional crews from across Alberta have been deployed to assist in the efforts. The situation remains under control but subject to change, and residents are encouraged to stay informed through emergency alerts and updates.
