Gov. Tim
In a recent conversation with The New Yorker, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz suggested that he might consider a

presidential run in 2028, stating he would "certainly contemplate that" if he believes he is the right person for the role.

Having gained national recognition during his vice-presidential campaign in 2024, Walz is contemplating his political future. He noted that if he feels qualified and capable of serving, he would be open to the idea of running. However, he emphasized that he wouldn't presume a candidacy is warranted just for the sake of his ambitions. Walz also explained his decision to forego a Senate run in 2026, citing frustration with the legislative gridlock in Washington after spending 12 years in Congress. He feels that he can effect more change as governor. When addressing concerns about former President Trump's actions, Walz expressed alarm over the potential emergence of authoritarian governance and its implications for LGBTQ rights and Medicaid. He is dedicated to ensuring that Minnesota acts as a "firewall" against such developments. Whether Walz will officially enter the race in 2028 remains uncertain, but he is certainly leaving the door open.
