Muhammed Tukur, the public relations officer for the National Defence College (NDC), shared this update in a statement to the media on Sunday in Abuja. He noted that the decision came following a unanimous vote by the participating member countries. With this announcement, Nigeria becomes the second host and the first Anglophone nation to lead the forum. The FADWCC, founded in 2024, aims to foster partnerships among defence and war colleges and to address common challenges faced by African nations while promoting collaboration in higher military education. Rear Adm. Olumuyiwa Morakinyo Olotu, leader of Nigeria's delegation and commandant of the NDC, has officially accepted the hosting rights on behalf of the Nigerian Armed Forces, receiving the symbolic hosting flag from his Moroccan counterpart. The previous edition of the FADWCC in 2025, themed "Artificial Intelligence and Defence," saw participation from commandants of defence and war colleges from 14 African nations, including Angola, Cameroon, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Côte d'Ivoire, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Mali, Mauritania, Morocco, Nigeria, Senegal, and Zambia.

This marked a significant increase from the eight countries that attended the inaugural edition in 2024. Rear Adm. Olotu expressed Nigeria's eagerness to host a distinguished forum in Abuja in 2026, thanking his counterparts for their trust in Nigeria to organize the next edition and assuring them of the country's commitment to exceeding the high standards established by Morocco.
