President Bola Tinubu has ordered a comprehensive overhaul of Nigeria's security strategy, directing service chiefs and the National Security Adviser (NSA) to intensify efforts in curbing nationwide violence.

Speaking at a high-level security meeting held Wednesday at the Presidential Villa, Tinubu declared "enough is enough" amid recent killings in Borno, Benue, Plateau, and Kwara states. His directive was confirmed in a statement by presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga.

NSA Nuhu Ribadu, who briefed State House correspondents after the meeting, said the President called for a new, more collaborative approach involving communities, local governments, and state governors.

Ribadu emphasized Tinubu's deep concern and active involvement, noting the President remained engaged with security matters even during recent foreign trips.

"The President made it clear—peace and security must be restored," Ribadu stated.

The meeting, which was attended by the Minister of Defence, Bashir Magashi; the Chief of Defence Staff, General Leo Irabor; the Inspector-General of Police, Alkali Baba; and the Director-General of the Department of State Services, Yusuf Bichi, among others, focused on addressing the rising wave of insecurity that has plagued the nation in recent weeks.

President Tinubu, who expressed frustration over the continued loss of lives and property, instructed the security chiefs to take immediate and decisive action to quell the violence and restore order in the affected areas.

The President also directed the NSA to convene an emergency meeting with state governors to discuss ways to strengthen cooperation and collaboration between the federal government and the states in addressing the security challenges.

Furthermore, Tinubu ordered the Minister of Defence to immediately mobilize additional troops and resources to support the ongoing operations in the troubled regions, while the Inspector-General of Police was directed to increase police presence and visibility in the affected areas.

The President also tasked the Director-General of the Department of State Services to intensify intelligence gathering and surveillance to preempt and prevent further attacks.

In addition, Tinubu directed the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development to provide immediate humanitarian assistance to the victims of the recent attacks, including provision of food, shelter, and medical care.

The President's directive comes on the heels of a series of deadly attacks in Borno, Benue, Plateau, and Kwara states, which have left scores of people dead and many more injured.

The attacks, which have been attributed to bandits, terrorists, and other criminal elements, have sparked widespread outrage and calls for the government to take more decisive action to address the security challenges facing the nation.

In response, President Tinubu has vowed to take all necessary measures to restore peace and security to the affected regions, and to bring the perpetrators of the violence to justice.
