Controversial singer Portable has been taken into custody by the Kwara State Police Command.

The 'Zazoo Zeh' star was arrested on Saturday following accusations of criminal defamation, threats to life, incitement, and character assassination directed toward fellow musician Saheed Osupa.

The arrest came after a petition from Osupa, who claimed that Portable had used offensive and inflammatory language that could provoke violence and harm his reputation.

In a statement released on Sunday, Kwara police spokesperson Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi announced that Portable was taken to Ilorin for further investigation. The statement confirmed that Portable's statement was recorded in the presence of legal representatives from both sides, and he is currently in custody awaiting court proceedings. "The Kwara State Police Command would like to inform the public that following a petition from Mr. Okunola Saheed, widely known as 'Osupa,' against Mr. Habeeb Okikiola Badmus, also known in the entertainment industry as 'Portable,'" the statement read. "Police detectives from the Kwara Command have taken lawful steps to investigate the allegations as per proper procedure.

"The petition involves serious charges, including criminal defamation, threats to life, incitement, character assassination, conduct likely to breach the peace, and the use of offensive language." The statement continued: "Given the gravity of these allegations and the supporting evidence presented, the command obtained a valid arrest warrant from a Magistrate Court in Ilorin." According to the statement, police operatives executed the warrant and arrested the suspect in Abeokuta, Ogun State, on Sunday, April 13, 2025, around 7:25 PM. Portable was subsequently transported to Ilorin for further investigation. "Upon his arrival, the suspect's statement was taken in the presence of legal representatives from both parties.

" The conflict between the two artists began last month when Portable's song was removed from Apple Music and Spotify due to copyright issues. Portable had utilized a line reminiscent of Osupa's style, prompting Osupa's team to file a complaint. Portable initially lashed out at Osupa, using derogatory phrases like "big for nothing," which led to significant backlash on social media. However, he later issued an apology to Osupa, attributing his outburst to his temper.
