PORT HARCOURT: A High Court in Rivers State, located in Port Harcourt, has rejected a motion seeking permission to appeal a ruling that removed them from their positions as Executives of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State. The motion was submitted by William Fialasoika and 24 others against the PDP regarding the conduct of ward, local government, and state congresses, which occurred despite a court order. It is important to note that a previous State High Court had dismissed the PDP Executives in Rivers State, who are staunch supporters of Chief Nyesom Wike from the Federal Capital Territory, as a result of congresses that were held in violation of a court directive. On January 13, 2025, Justice Stephen Jumbo ruled in favor of William Fialasoika and 24 others, nullifying the congresses that led to the election of the state, local government, and ward executives of the PDP, which were headed by Aaron. In response, the ousted PDP state Chairman, Chukwuemeka Aaron, along with Oye Fubara Igenewari, representing the elected local government executives, and Thankgod Beke, representing the elected ward executives, filed a motion requesting the court's permission to appeal the judgment that removed them from office. However, Justice Stephen Jumbo dismissed their application, stating that the PDP, as the defendant, had already initiated an appeal against the ruling that invalidated the PDP congresses.
