The Calgary Police Service took action after two students reported seeing a man exposing himself near the school on April 2. The students, attending Nellie McLung School in the Palliser neighborhood, informed staff about the suspect, who reportedly moved to a wooded area and engaged in the indecent act while observing the girls. Using witness descriptions and nearby CCTV footage, authorities were able to identify the suspect and make an arrest the next day. Police commended the students for their bravery in reporting the incident, emphasizing the significant emotional toll such exposure can have. "Indecent acts can be traumatizing, especially for young children," stated Sergeant Trent Barker-Petersen from the Calgary Police Service. "We understand that reporting such events can be challenging, and we appreciate that the students took the initiative to come forward. This is a criminal offense, and our community maintains a zero tolerance policy for such inappropriate behavior.

" Alejandro Jose Cervera-Marin is facing multiple charges, including two counts of indecent exposure to minors, two counts of criminal harassment, and one count of intimidation. He has also been charged under the Education Act for loitering or trespassing on school property and conduct that undermines the safe operation of a school. Cervera-Marin's initial court appearance is set for May 20.
