The German Bundestag has approved the reform of the 'debt brake.'

This €500 billion package will relax borrowing restrictions and facilitate new investments in defense, infrastructure, and climate initiatives.

The Bundestag has endorsed several amendments to the constitution, enabling future federal and state administrations to incur additional debt.

Out of 513 members of parliament, 513 voted in favor of the amendments, while 207 opposed them. A two-thirds majority of 489 votes was necessary for the proposed reform. The changes received support from the CDU/CSU, SPD, and Greens. The legislation will now proceed to the Bundesrat, where a vote is set for Friday.
