A collective of students from this high school intends to leave their classes to support the thousands of workers currently participating in the strike.

The Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Local 40 has announced that the demonstration will take place at 2:10 p.m. on Thursday.

CUPE Local 40 represents approximately 800 custodial and maintenance personnel employed by the Calgary Board of Education, who have been on strike since February 24.

In a statement, Clay Gordon, the president of CUPE Local 40, expressed his appreciation for the students' support. He noted, "Students are being negatively affected by low wages, high turnover of staff, and vacancies in support positions. A good education requires well-paid, satisfied support staff."

Gordon emphasized that the strike is fundamentally about improving classroom conditions and their impact on student education.
