🇷🇴🇺🇲 USAID  has sent millions of dollars to Romania to, among other things,  "strengthen democratic institutions, improve the rule of  law, and enhance media  independence," according to a U.S.  State Department report from March  2024.
Since then:
- Elections have been  canceled.
- Television channels that are not aligned with the state have been closed or fined
- Dissidents  are being arrested and fined
- Courts have  rejected all attempts to restore democracy
- The  largest propaganda campaign in Romanian history has been  launched by the mainstream media against a single candidate.
