A teenager has been arrested in connection with the stabbing of a 15-year-old boy at a school. The incident has raised concerns about school safety and violence.

Unfortunately, this is not an isolated incident. In 2002, a similar incident occurred in Turkey, where a 15-year-old boy named Sedat Kayak was stabbed to death by an older student outside his school.¹ The European Court of Human Rights later ruled that the authorities had failed in their duty to protect children against violence while under school supervision.

In response to the incident, the Turkish government implemented various measures to address school violence, including increasing security officers and security checks at school entrances, creating executive boards to prevent and de-escalate violence, and preparing annual security action plans.

The recent incident highlights the need for continued vigilance and action to ensure school safety and prevent such tragedies from occurring.
