Our Traffic  Unit continues  its investigation after  one person was killed in a single-vehicle  crash that occurred this morning in the  southeast part of the city.
At approximately 7:35 a.m. today, Sunday,  February 2, 2025, a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by a  30-year-old woman and a male passenger, was  traveling south on Deerfoot Trail  SE when it approached the interchange with Anderson Road S.E.  The vehicle is believed  to have continued straight and entered the median. The front passenger side of the vehicle struck a light pole, causing the passenger  door to be removed.
The passenger, a man in his 30s,  jumped out of the vehicle. He was  confirmed dead at the  scene.
The driver was  taken to hospital with minor  injuries.
Police are investigating whether speed or  drunk driving were factors in the  crash.
