The Emir of Ìlọrin,  upon ascending to the throne,  dropped Kọ́lápọ̀  from his official names. The great  Akṇnzua of Bini  quietly dropped Godfrey  from his names  upon his accession to the legendary  throne.
It is in  Yoruba land that we are comfortable with TRADITIONAL  leaders bearing foreign names.  Have you  heard of an Oba  from Ogun State  called Alexander McGregor?
