DEATH IS CHEATED BY HAWAII'S MAUI SURFER ON PE'AHI BEACH WIPEOUT Ty Simpson-Kane, a surfer, survived a harrowing wipeout at Peahi Beach, also known as "Jaws," on the north side of Maui. Before rescue crews could bring Simpson-Kane to shore, he fell off his board while trying to ride a huge wave and was buried beneath the ocean's surface.
