Following a spectacular rebel breakthrough that overthrew the capital of Damascus yesterday and put an end to the Assad family's fifty years of absolute power, Syrian media report new Israeli strikes in Da'ara, southern Syria.

Social media posts of unverified footage of the strikes seem to show additional explosions, suggesting that the targeted buildings were used to store weapons. Following the stunning overthrow of the Bashar al-Assad administration, Israeli Air Force fighter jets hit scores of targets throughout Syria yesterday, removing weapons that Israel worried would end up in the hands of enemy forces. According to reports, the target locations included a chemical weapons site, air defence systems, advanced missile storage facilities, and weapon production facilities. Additionally, the Israeli military established new bases in a buffer zone between Syria and Israel in the Golan Heights as it readied itself for possible anarchy.
