I am pleased to announce today that the Department of National Defence of Canada has selected Edmonton International Airport as the Western Main Operating Base (MOB-West) for the Royal Canadian Air Force's new fleet of CC-330 Husky aircraft! Edmonton's vital position in supporting Canada's security interests, from NORAD to NATO commitments, is highlighted by this significant decision.

This decision demonstrates both the remarkable expansion of our aviation industry and Alberta's steadfast support for the Canadian Armed Forces. Alberta has developed a thriving and inventive aviation sector over the years, establishing us as a major contributor to military and national security. With this new fleet and Edmonton serving as a primary operating base, Alberta is pleased to support our military in upholding Canada's domestic  and abroad defence obligations.
