After a severe incident in the southwest, Stoney Trail was closed Thursday

After a severe incident in the southwest, Stoney Trail was closed Thursday morning.

Emergency personnel were dispatched to a situation on Calgary's ring road at 17 Avenue, close to Old Banff Coach Road S.W., at approximately 6:30 a.m.

Due to the incident, police blocked the highway's northbound lanes.

That closure remained in place as of 7:30 a.m.

Drivers were urged to use a another route since southbound Stoney Trail was not accessible from Bow Trail S.W.
