According to three US officials who spoke to The Associated Press, the US is looking into the unauthorized publication of classified documents that evaluate Israel's intentions to attack Iran.

The records seem to be authentic, according to a fourth U.S. official.

Officials are trying to ascertain who had access to the documents prior to their posting, they added, as part of that investigation.

The records surfaced as the United States urged Israel to capitalize on its removal of Yahya Sinwar, the leader of Hamas, and

It has provided Israel with one of its most advanced air defence systems, the Terminal High-Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) battery, to help defend against further Iranian ballistic missile attacks.
