LAW-ABIDING: Dean Allison MP and Andrew Lawton provide examples of the government's ability to identify legitimate problems, but they struggle to offer effective solutions.

Banning citizens from freely using cash or responsibly using firearms suggests a lack of competence or a deliberate choice by the Liberals. We repeatedly hear about the flow of illegal guns across the border, yet this government focuses on law-abiding gun owners, hunters, and fishermen, rather than addressing the issues caused by violent repeat offenders, which seem to be perpetuated by bail and border policies.

There appears to be a trend with the Liberal government where they recognize a genuine issue but target the wrong group with their solutions. For instance, while there is consensus on the problem of money laundering, prohibiting law-abiding citizens from using cash is not a viable solution. Gun crime has escalated, likely exacerbated by a decade of lenient crime policies, yet the response from the government has been to pursue lawful gun owners.

I would like my colleagues to discuss why only law-abiding citizens appear to be the focus of this Liberal government regarding firearms, cash, and other matters. It seems the government opts for easier targets—the individuals who follow the law, complete safety courses, and properly register their firearms. Interestingly, criminals generally do not register their weapons. This approach indicates that the government can make significant noise about pursuing law-abiding citizens without much effort, as these individuals have already complied with the necessary regulations and safety measures.
